On September 15, at the Home of Humor and Satire in Gabrovo was opened an exhibition of the eminent Bulgarian graphic artist and illustrator Prof. Rumen Skorchev. It comprises 52 graphics and drawings and 8 paintings, most of which the artist has donated through the years to the fund of the Home (the collection of his works in the fund “Humor of the Peoples” numbers 58). The exhibition includes his last large-scale donation – 39 works worth 18 550 BGN, which the artist presented to the Funny House in June this year.

“For many years now the galleries have not been able to purchase paintings. This is why donorship is one of the forms for preservation of our cultural heritage, for raising our national self-esteem. One makes a donation led by noble motives to leave a work of his somewhere, to create a contact. This is an opportunity for communication between him and a society he honors,” Prof. Skorchev said.
