The Communication of Science, a group of about twenty journalists and young scientists from various scientific fields, formed with the British Council, also took part in the festivity. They held their first independent event – Cafe Scientifique (scientific cafå), in an attempt to challenge the dogmas of science by addressing important scientific matters in the friendly and cozy atmosphere of the Cafå. The British Council promoted the Visions of Science exhibition, which recently arrived in Bulgaria, and has not been shown to the public yet. It displays the best works, which took part in the photographic competition of the same name. The assessment criteria are the catchiness of the photos and the extent to which they shed new light on the world of science and natural phenomena. Pictures may show something unseen before, explain scientific phenomena, illustrate scientific data or simply reveal the beauty of science. Another premiere of great interest was the Selected Exhibits from the Palace Collection of the Museum, which enraptured the visitors with their beauty. Serious scientific discussions were also part of the festive day. The guests got a chance to take souvenir photos in the Museum and peep through the telescopes after nightfall. |

For the last 48 years on May 13, the National Museum of Polytechnics in Sofia has been solemnly marking the date of its foundation. This year’s festivity included a Museum Night, an interesting initiative of France’s Minister of Culture, put to practice at the Museum.
