On June 7, 2005, the International Women’s Club – Sofia elected a new Steering Committee which comprises nine wives of diplomats and businessmen. President is Mrs. Medi Al-Jebouri, wife of Mario Al-Jebouri, manager of Forem Consulting investment company, vice president is Mrs. Ann Stewart, wife of Ian Stewart, Director of British Council in Sofia. The ladies from the Club celebrated its 16th birthday. Special guest was the famour artist Edmond Demerdjiyan who donated one of his paintings to the Club. It will be sold by auction and the money will be given for charity. In this way a new tradition was established: every month the guest will have the opportunity to make a donation which will be part of the Club’s charitable activites. The new IWC – Sofia President Mrs. Medi Al-Jebouri said: “I was born exactly 34 years ago in this beautiful country Bulgaria. Growing up, with my parents we lived and traveled abroad extensively. It was hard moving around all of the time but in turn this enabled me to experience different cultures, people and traditions. This experience has enhanced my ability to communicate and work with different people from different walks of life. I graduated from a German language school in Sofia and then continued my higher education in Vienna majoring Business Studies. In 1996 I furthered my education by studying for a second degree at the University of London majoring in International Business and Trade Law, Marketing and Advertising. Having tired from studying I began working for an international consultancy group in London, after several years I moved to an American multinational software firm where I headed up Sales and Marketing department. I very much enjoy spending my free time on photography, interior design, tennis and skiing. I have been a member of the IWC for a year now and I am honored to be given the confidence of all our members as the new president. This will be a wonderful challenge and experience for me and I promise to make it a year to remember for all of us.” Juliana Tomova, IWC member |
