A medical laboratory for in vitro fertilization, fitted out with the most modern equipment in Bulgaria, will be opened in the hospital in June

The first entirely private maternity hospital “St. Lazar” in Sofia, designed and constructed in compliance with international standards, will be equipped with an in vitro laboratory in June.

The hospital has been functioning quite successfully for several years thanks to its state-of-the-art equipment and highly qualified medical staff.

Dr. Valentin Lachev, chief assistant at Maychin Dom and consultant at the private maternity hospital “St. Lazar”, is a member of the team which will work with the latest equipment for in vitro fertilization in our country. The establishment of such a laboratory requires an investment of about 150,000 Euro and a team of specialists.

With the opening of the in vitro fertilization laboratory, St. Lazar maternity hospital will become a leader in this type of medical services, where every family that wants to have a baby can receive expert help.

The hospital will be the only one in Bulgaria that will possess a micromanipulator. The most complex stage of the manipulations – icsi (intra-cytoplasm sperm injection) will be performed by means of this modern equipment. Thus, the manipulation will be carried out a-traumatically, which will ensure a higher quality embryo. This will also raise the percentage of pregnancies. Currently it is in the range of 25 to 30%, experts claim, and it will increase by 5 to 6%, which constitutes a remarkable achievement in medical practice.
