The National Initiative Committee for marking 125 years modern Bulgarian state organised on April 15, on the eve of the anniversary of the adoption of the Turnovo Constitution, a gala concert in Bulgaria hall. The Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Philharmonic Choir “Svetoslav Obretenov” performed pieces by Petko Stainov, Johannes Brahms, Ludwig van Beethoven and Dobri Hristov. The soloist Zheny Zaharieva, piano, played an encore of Shostakovich’s “Polka”. The choir sang under the baton of Lyuba Pesheva and the Philharmonic Orchestra was conducted by the “absolutely magnificent” Vassil Kazandjiev.

The Chairman of the National Assembly Prof. Ognyan Gerdjikov, the President Georgi Parvanov, the Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, His Holiness Patriarch Maxim, ambassadors, representatives of all diplomatic missions in Bulgaria, MPs and many guests honoured the event.
