On April 16, 2004, in Hall 1 of St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia the book of Prof. Vyacheslav Lebedev The Judicial Power in Contemporary Russia was presented. “The monograph of Prof. Lebedev, dedicated to the problems of the judicial power, has great theoretical and practical importance for both Russian and Bulgarian jurists. As we know, the judicial power in the Republic of Bulgaria is still being built upon and the matter is put with greater sharpness in view of the future EU membership of the country. The work of Prof. Lebedev as a theoretician and a practician has undoubtedly helped him in the structuring and analysis of questions on the judicial power in Russia. His participation in drafting several new laws gave him a wider and more comprehensive view of the difficulties, let him identify them and offer ways for their overcoming in the future,” Prof. Doncho Hrusanov said at the book premiere.

The event was attended by scholars, representatives of the judicial power, lecturers. Short speeches were made by Prof. Stanislav Razumov – judge at the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, Mr. Rumen Nenkov – Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of Cassation, and Prof. Valentin Ershov – Rector of the Russian Academy of Justice.
