The five children of the Bulgarian Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and his wife Margarita Gomes Acebo are often part of the most elegant societies in the world. Accompanied by their families, they enchant with their presence and elegance.

Kardam of Turnovo, Kiril of Preslav, Kubrat of Panagyurishte, Konstantin-Assen of Vidin and Kalina Saxe-Coburg y Acebo were included, at the personal invitation of King Mohammed VI, in the delegation of the Spanish King Juan Carlos, who together with Queen Sofia was on a three-day official visit to Morocco. The children of the Bulgarian Prime Minister and their spouses were among the official guests at the royal dinner on January 17 at the Jenan Kebir palace in the ancient Morocco capital city of Marrakech. They have known the king of Morocco since they were kids as Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, bearing the title tsar, was a close friend of the former Moroccan monarch Hassan II (died in 1999) from his exile years in Madrid. The friendship grew deeper and after Prince Mulai Rashid, brother of Mohammed VI, became best man at the wedding of Konstantin-Assen Prince of Vidin and Maria GarcÒa de la Rasilla. Kalina’s husband Kitin MuÖoz was born in Morocco and he is now honorary consul of the country in Spain.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister is among the closest friends of the Spanish royal family but he missed the wedding of the heir to the crown in May 2004, because of his official duties and a planned visit to the Ukraine. But all his children were among the guests of honor. What is more, Prince Felipe is best man of his son Kiril and his other son, Konstantin-Assen was a witness at the Spanish Prince’s wedding.

On May 22, 2004, when the 31-year-old TV journalist Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano said “yes” to the 36-year-old crown prince Felipe de Borbon y Grecia at a glamorous ceremony in the Madrid Almudena Cathedral, half the world came to Madrid to witness the Wedding of the Century. Over 1600 guests, nobles, eminent personalities relatives and friends of the royal family attended the ceremony. It started at 11:15 and lasted for an hour and a half.

The royal wedding was the first in Madrid since 1906, when Alfonso III married Princess Victoria Eugenia.
