On May 14, the National Palace of Culture staged the exhibition World Press Photo 2004. It was opened by H.E. Baroness Henriette Van Lynden, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr. Michael Foley, Executive Director of Mobil Tel, and the Bulgarian Foreign Minister Mr. Solomon Passy. The exhibition shows the best photos in the world for 2003.

Îðäåí On May 18, the day of the establishment of the highest Bulgarian distinction, “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” Order, the Bulgarian Orders exhibition was opened at the National Art Gallery. It was organised and presented by the National Museum of Military History and the National Mint under the patronage of the National Initiative Committee “125 Years Modern Bulgarian State” and the Bulgarian National Bank. As the occasion required, the atmosphere in the halls was solemn and the doors were open for everyone willing to enjoy the beauty and exquisiteness of the Bulgarian orders created after 1879.

On May 19, Traditzia Foundation celebrated its 2nd anniversary in the Gallery at 36, Vasil Levski Blvd. More than 80 guests drank to the future success of the team working to support the disadvantaged artisans.

Documentary testimonies for the entwined fates of Bulgaria and Montenegro

On May 19, 2004, in the palace complex in Cetine, Montenegro, an exhibition Bulgaria and Montenegro 1878-1918, prepared by the General Department of Archives at the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria and the State Archives of Montenegro was opened. The opening was attended by a Bulgarian archives delegation, lead by the Chairman of the General Department of Archives Atanas Atanassov. This project was inscribed in the overall aspect of the relations between the two countries for which contributed the participation of Mr. Stoyan Stankulov, First Secretary and Cultural Attach? of the Bulgarian Embassy in Belgrade, and Mr. Stefan Stratiev, representative of “Black Sea - Adriatic” association.

On May 20, at SIBANK gallery, H.E. Baroness Henriette Van Lynden, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and the gallery curator Associate Prof. Georgi Lozanov opened the photo exhibition “BABA (grandmother) - One Century of Bulgarian History 1902-2002” by the photographer Vesselina Nikolaeva. From May 21 to June 11, she will present her project along with the accompanying book at the gallery.

On May 27, at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany an exhibition of paintings and sculptures of the artists Krassimir Ivanov and Valeri Zheliazkov from Shumen was shown.

Let us Greet Europe Together

Let us Greet Europe Together - this is the name of the project of Vrabnitsa residential district and its partner, the Association “For the Bulgarian Children”, aimed to reach, intrigue and involve the students in activities for celebrating the Day of Europe. Major importance has been attached to the popularisation of the European Union and its values, interests and principles through attractive events, which are to highlight the crucial role and place of each individual in the process of European integration. The project encompasses all schools and kindergartens in the municipality, which enables the participation of children from all age groups. One of its highlights was the wonderful festivity on May 21, in the yard of 74 Gotse Delchev Secondary School. Ñíèìêà îò ñúáèòèåòî
