The Kapantsi Grannies from the Village of Sadina is a study by Svetlana Radeva of one of the little known ethnographic groups in Bulgaria, of the traditions and embroideries of Sadina, Popovo Municipality.

The launch of the monograph, published by Bulgarian Bestseller – National Museum of Bulgarian Books and Polygraphy, gathered on July 18 in Vyara Hall of the Sofia City Library many fans of Bulgarian folklore. Guests at this unusual celebration of beauty, tradition and the freedom to be yourself were officials, ambassadors, diplomats, representatives of the local government. They were fascinated by the originality of folk traditions, some of which were demonstrated by the Kapantsi grannies, who had come for an improvised working-bee specially for the book premiere. In the Bulgarian embroidery H.E. Mrs. Zahida Ansari, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, saw the same motifs as in Afghan embroidery. But what really warmed our hearts were the songs and dances of the Kapantsi grannies.
