Reality and fairy tale about Kazakhstan In the works of Erbolat Tolepbay

There are few modern authors’ works that can evoke joy. Joy from the meeting with the talent, with the spirit that fills the works and subdues the matter in Tolepbay’s art. Light, elegance and a whirlwind of emotion: this is what the women’s dance awakes. The portrait of the mother exudes gentleness and harmony. The existential themes in Erbolat Tolepbay’s work that have found an artistic expression in his paintings are the hope and the faith, the solitude and the beauty of communication, the earth and the people of Kazakhstan, the steppe and the cities, the past and the present, the love for the man.

Shipka 6 turns 35

The National Exhibition Centre for Contemporary Arts, known to the citizens of Sofia as Shipka 6 turned 35 on December 12. The biggest gallery in the country has an area of 3970 sq m. Since 1972 its halls have seen over 2000 exhibitions: 136 037 works of 37 675 authors from all continents have been shown.

In the last years Bulgarian archaeology never ceased to surprise us with discoveries that live up to the wildest dreams. We know that our land is rich in history but when the findings can be seen in their magnificence in the museum expositions we can virtually touch the spirit of times gone by, the art and the life of antiquity.

2008 – European year of intercultural dialogue

In our everyday life we often witness manifestations of intolerance, stemming from the collision of cultural differences, which even lead to acts of violence and sorrow in the world scale. This is why we should try harder to get to know these differences in order to lessen their destructive force. It might sound paradoxical but it is in the rapprochement and mutual understanding of cultures that we see a chance for our survival and for preventing a global catastrophe.
