Orthodox literature books were displayed in the exhibition Religious Literature in Bulgaria which was opened on December 5, 2006, at the St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library. The exposition is of the German lecturer in church history Prof. Dr. Hans-Dieter Doepmann. It was organized by the Bulgarian-German Association for promoting the ties between Bulgaria and Germany.

Prof. Doepmann, who chaired the Theology Department of Humboldt University in Berlin for years, has over 360 publications in 10 languages. His interest in Bulgaria dates back from the 1970s and he personally presented the most valuable books in the exhibition.

Among them were works by Sofroniy Vrachanski and Paisiy Hilendarski, as well as later works – by Prof. Ivan Panchovski and Patriarch Maxim, editions of the Foundation of the Shroud of the Holy Virgin, etc.
