Over 15 cult images and three-dimensional crosses and reliefs with Christian and floral and zoomorphic subjects appeared this summer in different spots in the area of Kamen Bryag village. Near the newly built chapel and the rock churches, in the open air in the magnificent locality called Yaylata, they provoke and lift up the spirit of contemporary men. This happened thanks to the unique initiative of Art Graphos Society and Kavarna Municipality from July 25 to 30. Its aim was to bring the cult images back into the ritual and holiday rites through the creation of a collection of ceramic plastics – artistic interpretations of crosses and other elements of Christian imagery. The crosses and plastics are authored by the artist Atanas Gadjev.
The project, supported by the Culture National Fund, aims at opening the senses and stirring the interest of contemporary people in the past and traditions. At focusing the attention on their preservation and revival. This is why an important part were the demonstrations with the participation of volunteers (local people and tourists) for the creation of ceramic souvenirs, interpreting sacral Christian subjects in the spirit of the iconographic tradition. The results from this initiative were presented in the plein air “The Imaginary Temple” in Aladja Monastery. This year it is part of the program of the Varna Festival “August in Arts”.
