H. E. Mr. Michael Geier was born on August 13, 1944 in Paderborn. Has a degree in law. Has worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1973. His diplomatic career abroad began in Sao Paolo (1974), followed by Rio de Janeiro (1977–79), Maputo (1979–82), Ouagadougou (1985–88), Tunisia (1988–90) and the Embassy in Rome (1994–97). From 1993 till 1994 has worked within the sidelines of staff exchange in the Italian Foreign Ministry. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Seoul (2003–06).
